About

John is a self taught artist and sportsman from the Mississippi River Valley. John was born in Moline, Illinois. Lucky enough to be raised in a sporting environment, he has hunted and fished all his life, in the rivers, bottomlands, and fields of the Midwest Region. As an ardent sportsman and observer of our wildlife in their natural habitat, he spends countless hours in research, sketching, and photography. He draws on his experiences as he tries to capture on canvas the excitement and drama of the outdoor world.

He has been painting full-time since 1978 and has won numerous awards for his oil paintings. Being a sportsman, many of John’s oils and limited edition prints have been used to further conservation efforts. He has had over 50 limited edition prints published, many going to support these goals.  John’s work has also won many blue ribbons and he has placed Best of Show at Wildlife Art Shows around the Midwest. His work has been used on over 27 of Cabela’s Inc. magazine covers since 1983. John now resides in Montose, Iowa with his wife, Marie.
